Do you offer complete bikes?

Yes, we do offer complete bikes built up to spec. We have certain build kits that we usually try to subscribe to, but we’ll be happy to put anything on a build that we can get our hands on!

Do you make titanium stems?

At this point, we don’t offer a titanium stem. The hardware out there doesn’t accommodate a large enough tube for us to be satisfied with the end product. When we look at it as a product, it’s heavier, less stiff and far more expensive than any carbon fiber or aluminum option on the market. Perhaps in the future we’ll find a system that will work and we’ll start making them.

What tubing do you use? Do you offer butted tubes?

We use 3/2.5 straight gauge tubing from Sandvik and Haynes. We have done a few bikes with butted tubes, but it takes away a lot of stiffness and we normally suggest going with a thinner wall straight gauge tube as it will give a more consistent ride quality and maintain the integrity of the bike a bit better.

How about BB30?

We do offer a pressfit BB30 shell but we always remind people that it takes away from the overall stiffness of the BB area of the frame. The cranks are a larger diameter, but you don’t increase the stiffness of the frame at all. Also, a threaded BB has more purchase and creates a wider platform for the cranks, not to mention gives you the option of changing systems if you would like to do so in a few years. Remember, the frame will last a lifetime, technology doesn’t.

Do you offer a tapered headtube?

We offer a 44 style headtube which is compatible with the Cane Creek/Chris King headset systems. It’s essentially an inset style 1.125” top cup and an external 1.5” bottom cup. The headtube itself isn’t tapered, but it allows you to use a tapered steerer fork if you’re so inclined. The numbers on the stiffness increases from using a tapered fork aren’t terribly consistent, but we’ve had plenty of success stories with this already. If you’re looking for definite increases in stiffness for the front end, look into a thru-axle style system on your fork, like a QR15 from Fox or the Maxle from Rockshox. Fox’s system is 15% stiffer torsionally and 25% stiffer in transverse shear than a traditional QR style dropout fork.

Can I get my frame painted?

Yes, we do offer to set you up with Spectrum paint in CO Springs to finish up the bike if you choose to go that route. You will work directly with their professional staff to design and select colors for your frame.

What’s that funky Spray Mask finish?

The spray mask finish we offer is essentially a polished undercoat that’s covered with a mask during the bead blasting process. When the mask is taken off, the resulting image is polished while the rest of the frame retains its blasted look. It’s similar to the process we use for putting the name on the top tube. An example is shown below:

How long does it take to get a frame?

We don’t stock any frames, so it depends on what part of the season we’re at, and how popular we are. Traditionally we shoot for an 8-10 week window, with 10 weeks being more common in the spring/summer and 8 more common in the winter. This is not taking into account the time it takes to come up with a confirmed frame design prior to the frame deposit.

What are the standard options on a frame?

The standard BB is a 68mm English thread. We use “breezer” or “wright” style dropouts. For singlespeeds, we like to use a davinci style eccentric BB in place of slider dropouts as we’ve had more success with them. As far as cable routing goes: Road: Brake line under top tube, der cables run under downtube and chainstay. Di2: Brake line under top tube, der cables inside frame.

Cross: Brake and derailleur on top of top tube and under seatstay MTB: Brake and derailleur under top tube and under seatstay. The options for your disc brake cable runs are either a thru stop or zip tie saddles (as shown)

Do you stock seatposts?

We try and keep certain sizes in stock all the time, but demand seems to be high enough that it’s tough to keep up. In general we try and get seatposts out within 10-14 days of the order and if it’s in stock, it could be quite a bit faster than that. Posts generally ship out on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

How much will my frame or seatpost weigh?

This depends heavily on tubing selection, not just sizes but thicknesses as well. We’ve listed some estimated frame weights of certain bikes below as a starting point. Weights are for around 57cm/18”.

Road: 3 lbs or under

MTB 26” HT: 3.4 lbs or under

MTB 29” HT: 3.5 lbs or under

Yeti ASR: 5.25-6 lbs

Ventana 26”/650b/29”: 5.4-6.5 lbs

Seatpost weights: 250mm=174 g, 300mm= 194 g, 360mm=217 g, 400mm=233 g

Do you offer refinishing/refurbing of Ti frames?

We do offer that service for $325 which includes bead blasting and new decals. We can also make additions to older MTB frames to add disc brake tabs, braze ons, etc. and can estimate costs for that for anyone interested. Feel free to shoot us an email if you’re looking to spruce up your bike.

Do you repair other manufacturers/builders Ti frames?

We don’t offer that service for a few reasons. It traditionally will void the warranty of that frame is we do repairs/alterations to it and we have no history of the tube type, style or thicknesses when doing repairs. We also don’t know how the tubing was handled or cleaned before being put on the bike and being welded up, so there are a lot of unknowns that are dangerous to play around with.

Do you offer sponsorship?

We’d love to get the Eriksen name out there and are willing to consider offers for certain levels of sponsorship. If you’re interested, please submit an athletic resume with listed achievements, race results, and specifically what you are requesting sponsorship for. Send it to: customers@kenteriksen.com and we’ll look into what we can do.
