The 29’er: Deserving of its own section on our sales floor, the 29’er and its sisters the 96’er and 650B are Kent’s personal favorites. These bikes are more than a passing fad. The big wheels roll over rocky sections with ease and confidence. Downhill’s are smoothed out with the large wheels, cornering is solid, and all out flat road pushes are road-ride fast.
It’s not really fair to call a "big wheel hard tail", a hard tail. The large diameter wheels provide a smoother ride with added traction. As an added bonus, the wheelbase is generally longer than traditional frames which translates as stability. These bikes are almost impossible to endo.
The 96’er and 650B take the best of both a traditional 26 inch bike and a 29’er, melding the two together for a superior ride. Built as a hard tail or paired with a rear suspension system, you have the best of both worlds.
